A Concise History of Mine Hoisting is the first work to incorporate research in the museum's recently-catalogued Winfield Scott Stratton Collection. Donated to the Western Museum of Mining and Industry by the Myron Stratton Home in August, 1999, the collection pertains to Winfield Scott Stratton's mining operations and associated businesses (1890 - 1976). A 209-page Finding Aid is available for researchers on site or for purchase. Through its new Mining History and Technology Series, the Western Museum of Mining and Industry hopes to encourage original research in its collection by museum staff and other scholars; particularly in the areas of mining, technology, and the socioeconomic history of the American West.
