Cherry
Hunter Art Fund
|
Cherry
Hunter was more than a museum supporter. Cherry was
also an accomplished artist and arts supporter. As
she traveled to the many mining towns throughout
the American West with her husband Ed, she often
had her pen in hand. Etchings of today's miners in
their element or pen and ink drawings of the
abandoned surface structures of mining's yesteryear
were often the result. Some of Cherry's works are
represented in our collection.

As
an arts and museum supporter, Cherry contributed to WMMI's
exhibits and programs. She assisted with creating the first
of our now many "Mining Art" exhibits and helped establish
our "What's Mined is Art" educational programs.
In
honor of Cherry, of her passion for where art and history
intersect, WMMI has established the Cherry Hunter Art Fund.
Donations to the fund will be used for the purchase, care,
and exhibition of mining art and associated educational
programs.
We
invite you to join us in celebrating and honoring Cherry's
love of art and mining, and her 20 years of volunteer
service to WMMI. Donations should be made payable to the
Western Museum of Mining & Industry, with the "Cherry
Hunter Art Fund" designated in the memo, and mailed to WMMI
in care of David
Carroll
at the address below.
