Western Museum of Mining & Industry 30th Anniversary!
- & -
Membership Appreciation Celebration!
Saturday, July 14, 2012, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The Western Museum of Mining & Industry is celebrating 30 years of delivering its mission to educate the public on the history and continuing contributions of mining and the impact of industry. This 501(c)3 nonprofit and American Association of Museum accredited museum opened its doors in 1982, with exhibits designed to accentuate its motto as “The Museum That Works!” We invite you to celebrate this anniversary at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 14, 2012.
Located on 27 acres at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the Western Museum of Mining & Industry offers a contrasting combination of beautiful Colorado landscape and a world-class technical history collection centering on America’s mining industry. As the museum continues to further its education mission after all these years, visitors to the July 14th anniversary celebration will experience it all: Our 19th and 20 century steam engines will rumble to life; you’ll hear the shrill whistle of an Osgood steam shovel; watch a trammer speed down the rail; and...for this special event, the museum’s one-of-a-kind Yellow Jacket Stamp Mill Gold & Silver Refinery will operate - feel the ground shake and hear the thunder as the stamp mill comes to life!

Complete with a piece of anniversary cake and a special admission rate of only $3.00 per person (that’s just $0.10 per year!), this will be a special, interactive celebration for the whole family. Members are admitted free as always.
Additionally, as the museum observes this significant milestone, its Board of Trustees’ (Mr. Jeff Campbell, President; Mrs. Valerie Remington, Secretary; Mrs. Dianne Reitan; Mrs. Kelly Jackson; and Mr. Don Kremmel) want to recognize and appreciate the support of the museum’s membership. Throughout the day, our board will be available to talk with members about the museum, its resources, and future.
The Museum is located at 225 North Gate Blvd., Colorado Springs, Colorado (I-25 at Exit 156A, Just East of the Air Force Academy). Call (719) 488-0880, or email at info@wmmi.org for additional information.
